A January 2000 study from McGill University in Montreal ranked Milwaukee 6th in a list of U.S. and Canadian cities with the highest number of college students per 100 residents. For all essential purposes, we are a college town without really being a "college town."
Technical Colleges
Wisconsin technical colleges give students the knowledge, training and skills they need to compete in the technical industry. Ninety-five percent of students are employed within six months of graduation. It usually takes two years or less to earn a degree or diploma. Many programs allow for credit transfer to schools in the University of Wisconsin System.
Gateway Technical College
Gateway Technical College, located in Racine and Kenosha counties, offers over 70 career options. There are also special services to assist you throughout your training to assure educational success. Associate of Applied Science degrees, technical diplomas, advanced technical certificates, and adult high school diplomas are granted.
Milwaukee Area Technical College
MATC offers over 150 associate degrees, technical diplomas, and short-term certificates during the day, evening, weekends, and through distance education. There are career areas for virtually every interest and numerous skill upgrade opportunities.
Moraine Park Technical College
Moraine Park offers a variety of educational and training opportunities, including more than 50 associate degree and technical diploma programs at its campuses in Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac and West Bend in Washington County.
Waukesha County Technical College
Waukesha County Technical College, as the leader in workforce development for Waukesha County, is committed to student learning for the enhancement of our community's quality of life. The college's special focus includes technical education, occupational training, and enrichment programs.
