Chicago Tribune: Chicagoans buying second homes in Milwaukee
For the last few years it has been no secret that Chicagoans are increasingly discovering Milwaukee as a great place to visit. The latest reception and dinner chatter around Milwaukee is about how Chicagoans are not only visiting but they are grabbing up houses in Milwaukee as they are looking to buy weekend getaway homes. Clearly Milwaukee is building an image with our friends in Chicago that this is a city that is on the move.
On June 10, 2006 the Chicago Tribune ran a story in its business section which demonstrated that there is more fact to this idea than just rumors. Chicagoans who are buying real estate in that other downtown (Milwaukee) in order to enjoy lakefront weekends in a place where they say the pace is lively and urban, yet the price and the congestion seem more manageable, stated the Tribune.
The story outlines how the new Milwaukee offers many of the same choices that can be experienced in downtown Chicago but for people in Chicago’s northern suburbs Milwaukee is much easier and more accessible than the Chicago Loop.
This is a story that must be read and shared with anyone and everyone. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Milwaukee is becoming a market of choice. Who knows maybe someday maybe we might hear that year-round residents from Arizona and Florida are looking to buy second homes in Milwaukee as a great place to get away from the summer heat of the South.
