Brookings Institution: Milwaukee's downtown ready to soar
On November 24, 2005 the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ran a story that presented findings from The Brookings Institution that looked at downtown population, household, and income trends in 44 selected U.S. cities from 1970 to 2000. Not surprising to visitors and residents of Milwaukee The Brookings Institution found Milwaukee’s “downtown on the end of takeoff.”
What is especially worth noting is the period of time that is NOT being studied – 2000 to the present. It is safe to say that anyone that has been to downtown Milwaukee in the last five years would have seen even more expansion in urban living.
