Entrepreneur magazine ranks Milwaukee region in Top 20 hottest large U.S. cities
The October 2005 issue of Entrepreneur magazine has listed "Milwaukee- Racine" as the 20th "hottest" large city in the United States for entrepreneurs. It is interesting that the Milwaukee region actually outpaced cities that many people might perceive as being places that would attract entrepreneurs: San Diego (#23); San Francisco-San Jose (#25); Los Angeles (#26); Boston (#31); New York (#34); Seattle (#40); Portland (#41); Providence, RI (#42) and Minneapolis-St. Paul (#45). If you look closely at the rankings you will also find that the study has included Kenosha in the Chicago region which was considered the 12th "hottest" city. The ranking was based on information from the National Policy Research Council, a Washington, D.C. think tank, which analyzes business formation and business growth. According to a senior researcher from the Research Council some of the common characteristics among the "hottest" cities are "pleasant climates, good universities and capacious airports."
